Much better photo Robert :)(y)

Very distinctive colouring, will do some research this evening, pretty sure you are right with the eagle

Hard to get perspective on size though, but very impressive (y)

Sorry about the perspective David
Will get Mrs C to hold up one of her Mint Humbugs next time, so we can compare.

It was a comment not a criticism Mr C :)

Broken Link Removed

A more local birder may know better but I reckon you might have seen a Spanish Imperial Eagle (y)(y)

I'd certainly agree with you David
It was massive and the colour is right too.

I shall try your suggestion when making comments to Mrs C and that they are not criticisms - get the bandages ready !

Two groups of birding peeps that were here a few weeks ago also swore they'd seen a Spanish Imperial Eagle over the local hills near the camperstop. They had a photo of it carrying what looked like a fox! I've never heard of these eagles being in this area but exciting if it's correct.

I'll be sick if they're right and I don't see them .

After a peaceful night at Casa De Fusta we awoke to another sunny morning.
So headed off on our bikes for a final tour of the marshes.

We were surprised to spot a large Crayfish at the side of one of the many drainage ditches.

IMG_7168.JPG

We saw many birds, including a pair of Eagles and some beautiful wild flowers.

This trip took us along the wide sandy spit winch separated the lagoon from the sea.

We shall be sad to leave Amposta as we continue our journey homewards - but not before we've sampled one last meal in the restaurant.

Time for lunch!

Love the look of that area, put on our must get to places (y)(y)

are there many bitey mozzy things o_O

still possibly worth it for the views and wildlife :)(y)
No mozzies yet David but I'd expect they'd be some in the summer.

Our final lunch in Aposta has been a perfect culinary adventure:

We stared with Smoked Eel Crostini
IMG_7185.JPG

We both ordered a mixed green salad
IMG_7184.JPG

Followed by fried baby squid
IMG_7186.JPG

And steamed mussels
IMG_7187.JPG

We paired the food with a bottle of red wine from Terra Alta and a bottle of posh water
IMG_7183.JPG

For main course we both chose Seafood Paella - celebration of sea and land in perfect harmony.

IMG_7188.JPG

For desert we chose home made Cheesecake

Can you guess the bill ?

Its such good value there that I was way off yesterday.

Looks like a menu del dia to me so I am going for 30 Euros precisely.

€31.50 exc tip.

No exclamation marks and no studying of the food.

BTW that's a lot of food for the two of you.
They do share and you have to read the text carefully as Mr C is very sneaky!

Just been flicking back though older posts came across the photo that I never did work out what it was exactly, or what on earth it was searched for as o_O

put me off my guessing and tea tonight :)
