TRIGANO ACQUIRES ENGLISH AUTOMAKER AUTO-SLEEPERS

The leading firm of the European motor home is French. Trigano, which already has big names such as Challenger, Autostar, Chausson, Font Vendôme, Benimar, Mc Louis or Rimor, achieved a turnover of 1.31 billion euros in 2016.

Trigano and do not stop there: the company revealed that it has acquired Auto-Sleepers Investments (ASI) , an English company, manufacturer of recreational vehicles. ASI, with a workforce of 386 employees, had a turnover of 1.42 million euros in 2016.

" Founded in 1961, the company (...) is one of the oldest European brands ," says Trigano in a statement. With this acquisition, the leader of the camper intends to " consolidate its presence in the motorhome in the UK market ."

First I have heard of this. Seems a shame as it means that bit less competition in the motorhome marketplace anyway. I think maybe Trigano are big enough already. Don't Autosleepers own the Marquis dealer network too?

Both that and the takeover of A/S are bad news for the industry; more consolidation and a lack of competition

I reckon that only leaves Swift and Elddis (maybe Lunar?) that are 'British' motorhome manufacturers. I used to think of Swift as a big company, turnover £200 million+, but its tiny compared to Trigano. If they have taken over Adria as well then things are getting out of hand maybe.
