Thanks. Its a 60 watts. It was pretty good when placed outside in direct sun but can't do that today.
It's really sunny and 27 degrees. Shame to waste that sun.

Could you put it on the roof assuming you have roof hatches ?
Thanks for the suggestion but Its too awkward to get up there plus the risk of puncturing the roof with the corners.
Wouldn't like to take the chance for an extra bit of power.

It will work but you will not get it's full potential as the windscreen will filter the UV.
I read that somewhere too but as long as it will put in some. Can't say to watch corrie or strictly as we can't get it here anyway.

Had a little solar charger on my dash for years for charging AA batteries for my camera etc. Works fine.

Whilst light does obviously travel through the glass, some of this is blocked by the iron content in glass. In addition to this some of the light is reflected, meaning that a significant amount of power will be lost. This will vary depending on the specific glass used as well as other factors, but the power loss could be in excess of 50%.
Why not lean it against the outside of the window and secure it to the mirror housings.

Leave it on the dash. You'll get something, rather than nothing, and I rather thing you'll get even more than that.

Unless you are sitting in a certain British bomber of not so long ago ( gold infill in the windscreen to reduce reflections and starburst effect ) you should get most of what the sun has to offer :)
