Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
That garden is so English. Absolutely gorgeous.
But God knows how many people are needed to keep it like that.

Fenman, we saw a little old wizened lady, weeding and pushing a huge wheel barrow but nobody else. The owner who was in his sixties was sat in a little hut by the entrance with a huge flat screen telly on a rickety shelf, ready to watch the football.

Wednesday saw us arrive at la Mailleraye Sur Seine no 37 Normandy all the Aires book.

image.jpeg

We sat and watched the huge barges chug by, only 5 other vans. Again the village was dead with only the chemist and tabac shop open.

We cycled for 10 miles all along the seine, very bumpy track I think we passed a tiger farm but Martin wasn't convinced.
We did find lots of cherry trees and another private aire in the middle of nowhere.

There is a sewage farm at the far end of the aire, very wiffy so happy we could park at the other end!

image.jpeg

On our way out the next morning we caused chaos by stopping in the Main Street to shout hellos to a British van with a funster sticker. @whingyraindrop is was great to briefly meet you both.

Love the aire at La Mailleraye and yes there are tigers at a property along the track.

We whizzed past too fast on the bikes for a proper look and of course I thought we'd see them on the way back but we came back the road way. What a surreal place to keep Tigers!

I think we found that aire after we had booked into and pitched up at the Cherry Farm a couple of kilometres up the road! :( We were pitched on the river side of the campsite, and there was a pipeline right opposite where two huge barges moored one after the other, and started to take on whatever was being piped - the racket went on all through the night!

Where are you headed next? Will you be back on Sunday?

We spent yesterday (Thursday) acting like goldielocks and the three Aires.

We first went to Etretat, a small aire with a ticket barrier. We parked and cycled up into town, it's quite touristy and looked slightly grim under all this grey cloud.

Martin went into a bakery and bought 2 stuffed baguettes (chicken salad and tuna salad for you foodies). He came out complaining about the price €7.50, which for some reason he reckoned was over £10. We then had one of those maths conversations when you both can't really be bothered to work it out properly so you end up making it up. Me helpfully adding the rate of the pound to the dollar since we voted out.

Anyway we go and sit on the sea front and I get dive bombed by a massive seagull. We laugh and think nothing of it. We carry on munching deciding to go "halvies". I complain I've had a quarter of my baguette and I've yet to hit any chicken when suddenly the seagull returns, flys in between us, snatches the tuna baguette right out of martins hand and flys off with it, closely followed by about 10 of his mates all squawking and fighting over it. So that made lunch even more expensive!
All the French people walking by were laughing at us, Martin was just relived he wasn't shat on.

image.jpeg

Here's me before the attack.

Fed up with Etretat we move on to Fecamp up the coast (after having to pay €8 to get out of the Etretat aire).

We arrive half an hour later to a nice aire in Fecamp harbour overlooking the boats but there is no space. The over fill aire across the road is too big and filled with travellers including their free roaming ponies. Realising we will need our wheels to drive home we move on.

So off up the coast to...
image.jpeg

Where the aire is just right.
image.jpeg

We walk along the empty beach to a little restaurant that thankfully is open and enjoy some pizzas. We choose not to sit outside just in case...

26 euros.

Like the photos of the aires, if they look OK when grey, they should be great when sunny.(y)

€35 - It is Normandy after all - the closer you get to the Uk the more expensive it gets, so €10 each pizza and €5 each for the beer......;)

Next time you're in Fecamp try a visit to the Benedictine distillery. An excellent way to spend two to three hours. Sampling at the end of the tour too.(y)

Next time I'm in Fecamp I'll avoid the pot hole in the concrete that wrote off my front suspension strut top bearing. I too could not find a parking space

I guess (for once:rolleyes:) I have been very lucky. I have never failed to get a pitch facing the yachts in the marina. Oh the joys of a U shaped lounge.(y)
