One of my favourite drives in France is along the Lot.
Picking up the D42 just north of Decazeville and following through Vieillevie, where there's a very nice and convenient little aire at 44.64484 2.41804, through to Entraygues and then south on the D920 to Espallion.
If you enjoy meandering along a river valley/gorge then you might enjoy this ride.
Not as dramatic, or busy, as the Tarn but, for me, that makes it even more enjoyable.
A good few stopping places en route and a few aires close by.
