We went Dover Calais on ferry 2nd July, was due out 3rd @ 04.20, let us on 9.50pm night before, return due 18th July @ 7.45, let us return 17th @ 6.50pm, no problems for us, but lorries parked up for miles in UK & France.
Cite Europe had not one immigrant loitering in the bushes

I'm at a loss as to who is to blame for all this.. seems the MyFerryLink peeps won their case but Channel Tunnel decided for business reasons to find a different company to lease the ships to.. DFDS have said they may or may not make some redundancies.. presumably somewhere I haven't fount is the decision on that because this was all supposed to happen on 2nd July.

The French unions are being militant and aggressive as they usually are and causing disruption.

Meanwhile, there is no viable alternative to the channel tunnel for short trips to Europe unless you fly.. the alternative routes are too expensive and not frequent enough for a weekend away..

I'm sticking to UK CS's this year I think...

Went to Tunbridge Wells yesterday ( from Deal at about 4pm), heard that the M20 is closed both ways from J8 to J11 so we went up the A2 and got into a 2.5 mile queue at Brenley Corner ( A2/M2 jcn) more traffic than normal on the M2, then down the A249 and back onto the M20. This is the route my Sat Nav takes me on anyway and it wasn't too bad. We returned, same route at around 8pm and the roads were pretty clear, lots of foreign registered cars and m/homes travelling along with us though towards Dover.
We have a Tunnel crossing booked for Monday afternoon, not too worried if we can't get back.......

Because 2 operators is more competition than 3 :eek::eek:

I don't think it is as clear cut as that.. the appeals court found in favour of the unions and then eurotunnel decided to pull out of the deal anyway.. there's more to this than meets the eye I'm guessing.

Thanks for all the updates, it's nearly 4 weeks till we have to go thro Chunnle, but our Glorious Leader DC has said the chaos may last all summer. Luckily we booked the ferry from Amsterdam to Newcastle to come back on. Think it will be Santander ferries next year.

Hi @Geordies can I ask what price that was, we are just down the road on Teesside and wonder if it is a viable alternative to Hull Zeebrugge.

For one way it was just over £220 from memory, guess it depends how far in advance you book it.

Well Op Stack has been lifted again, the M20 is clear. Lets hope it lasts longer than a couple of days :D

...four departures an hour from the UK and three from France.

How does that work then? Wouldn't all the trains gradually end up in France?
