With you on that one @scousebird, a lot of us will be travelling over there in the next few weeks and the updates on the travel situation from yourself and others local to the diversions/delay issues are invaluable to those of us who are or will be affected.(y)(y)(y)

Summary
  • Still current at:
    28 July 2015
  • Updated:
    27 July 2015

Latest update: Summary - industrial action by farmers is causing road blockades and closures
Industrial action by farmers is causing road blockades and closures. See theBison Futé website for details of road closures.

There is an ongoing possibility of disruption to cross channel services due to industrial action. Check online with your chosen operator and plan your journey to avoid disruption. See this information on the situation. Information about alternative routes and operators is available via this Broken Link Removed.

There are large numbers of illegal migrants in and around Calais, who may seek to enter the UK illegally. You should keep vehicle doors locked in slow moving traffic and secure your vehicle when it is left unattended.

There is a high threat from terrorism. Due to ongoing threats to France by Islamist terrorist groups, and recent French military intervention against ISIL, the French government has warned the public to be especially vigilant and has reinforced its security measures. See Terrorism

Around 17 million British nationals visit France every year. Most visits are trouble-free. The most common problem reported is pick-pocketing. SeeSafety and security

The Emergency phone number in France is 112.

You should apply for a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before you travel. If you already have an EHIC, make sure it hasn’t expired. Some medical costs aren’t covered by the EHIC so you should also take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance before you travel. See Health

The Overseas Business Risk service offers information and advice for British companies operating overseas on how to manage political, economic, and business security-related risks.

No mention of avoiding Dover Calais route - the :dm: does it again

Just received this email from P & O, seems they are laid back about everything.
But then they are not really being affected. Seems choosing them back in February was a good choice.
Will leave home Friday and the holiday will begin, migrants, strikers or farmers protesting will be treated with indifference. It's time for holidaying and the surf's up !!

We are aware of the Foreign Office advice that cross-Channel customers should check with their operator before travelling. We would like to reassure you that the port of Calais is at present safe and open for business, and we continue to sail as normal.

Our customers at the port of Calais are thankfully not affected by the well-publicised problems which we have seen at Eurotunnel. Traffic on the slip roads can access the port freely, cars can queue safely and efficiently in a secure area, and there is no point at which illegal migrants come into contact with our passengers. We will keep you informed should the situation change.

We look forward to welcoming you onboard and hope you enjoy your trip!

It's back on again, (was it ever really off?)
Wonder how the French would react if we couldn't control our transport activities and caused problems for them?
Mind you DAVE has been listening and talking :whistle: End of story !!

I'm booked on the Eurotunnel
OK. Best route off the M25 is A2 - M2 - A2 - B2068. The B2068 brings you to junction 11 where you can join the M20 for the tunnel junction at 11a.
