I know it sounds a daft question. Up 'till now I have entrusted servicing to a garage and I will now do a 'minor' service myself. I would like advice as to the easiest way to replace the engine air filter. I assumed it would be a quick and easy job but when I removed the spare wheel I saw that the entire air filter housing seems to need removal together with either the air inlet duct or the filter to turbo duct. Can someone please tell me which is the easiest method?

What you described is the best way to do it. Only takes a few minutes to remove it completely.
