I have picked this up from another Forum but if totally genuine may be worth reporting your problems as VOSA could have more clout getting Fiat to do something about this annoying problem which has certainly affected me.

"I know many of you have had a problem with the filter housing leaking Fiat are aware of this but have chosen not to recall I found a Vosa address and got this reply

I would ask if you can providing me with following information:

1. Is your vehicle still fitted with the original fuel filter that is was
supplied new with?
2. Has the fuel filter element ever been changed?
3. If so, by whom?
4. Is your vehicle still in the failed state?
5. If so, please do nothing to it until you have spoken with me, as we need
vehicles in theirs failed condition.
6. Do you happen to have taken images or video the fuel leak?
7. Can you supply me copies of the service information on the vehicle.
8. Do you use your motorhome all year or do you winterise it?
9. If you don't use it during the winter, how do you winterise it?

If you wish to discuss anything, then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Just experienced this on our 2011 Ducato 3.0 with 17k on the clock. Took the vehicle out for first trip last weekend to find we were leaving a trail of diesel. The fuel filter casing had failed. The local dealer said it was possibly frost damage (cold snap two week prior) and advised us to stay clear of supermarket diesel - something to do with bio matter in their fuel which grows after a period of time not being used (since November) freezes and then expands.
Have the gold cover warrantee with MB&G but they refused to cover it as no 'parts included had failed' to cause the casing failure.....arghhhh. Not impressed as it cost £400 to fix.

Filter housing is under £80 delivered and takes 10 minutes to change.

The OP is misguided as to this being a Fiat issue as it simply is NOT. These filters are fitted by Fiat Peugeot Citroen and a whole host of other car manufacturers. The filter assembly is made by UFI and failures are a very controversial subject. Personally I have not had a failure but I do use the correct tools to manufacturer recommended practices.
