So after all that is was a simple misunderstanding and a bit of new member learning experience.

What surprised me most about this weekend is that I have just bought one of those 12v/240V cool boxes. They are supposed to suck power out of the batteries at a hell of a rate but I was fed up of warm beer. Anyway, I was expecting to have to start my genny on Sunday at the latest to charge the batteries up after the beers had gone. I thought I would need to do this so I could start the engine of Monday as they are currently in parallel with the hab batteries. I know this is a bit silly but needs must at the moment. Anyway. Checked the voltage Sunday night after the sun had gone down for a couple of hours and batteries were showing 12.9V. Was I happy (y)

3 x 80Watt solar panels kept all my stuff working from thursday at 11am till today at 11am and batteries almost fully charged when I arrived back at Coningsby.

I charged up my tablet/phone/laptop each night using 12v converters. New toothbrush still going strong after no hookup for 10 days. I am still trying to decide if it is worth installing my new inverter as I have managed fulltiming for 6 years without one.... Oh and I am operating on only half my battery bank as one battery gave up the ghost after 8 years.

My coolbox draws 3A at 12V and is really useful though many years old. After its been running for a couple of days it really chills the beer (and the glasses to put it in)

To look out of a window and see my neighbours washing hanging out... :swear2:

I have enjoyed this thread.

As Jim said lots of people getting upset when they weren't even there.

Reminded me of Harry Enfield's Angry Frank

Why oh why is it necessary to fire up your generator at 8am thus spoiling a good start to the day for the majority of others :madder:
And then, on till late at night spoiling the evenings as well!!

it was 7.30 in disabled area at peterborough show on the first morning and gone 11pm same night. Then hubby got wrongly accused for banging on someones door when he was just walking the dog - two days later we found the culprit - who was complaining about the genny noise - so presumably the occupants couldnt hear what the complainant was saying due to his genny being so loud. live and let live :)
