Just took Sky up on a 67% Discount deal on their SKY+ for 12 months.

I was wondering if it might be worth taking the new box down to Costa Brava, Spain in the van.

Or will I not get any channels?

I know there is no FTA, but what is the latest with the SKY channels please?

Your sky box should get the majority of Sky pay channels, especially those on the European beam, in most of mainland Spain.
Of course it all depends on dish size, so any dish over 80 or 90cm should work...

It will also get some of the FTA channels, but not bbc itv c4 or fives.

all I know is in Benidorm where I am, no one with 85 cm dish picking up much if anything at all...and are hiring 1200 dishes, not an option if touring obviuosly

On my 80x85 dish (Gandia), I get just about everything...
with the sky pay channel on the European beam much "stronger" than those on the uk beam - which is to be expected.
And there is hardly any difference in the European signals between here and Benidorm... but the uk beam signal does deteriorate.
the 1200 dishes (a min of 110x120 I would think) will be for reception of those bbc itv c4 and fives (ie non sky, subscription free) channels, on the uk beam.
the sky pay channels should be available on anything from 85cm upwards.
so if someone is saying you need a "1200" dish for sky channels, they are "aving a larf" - unless they are mistakenly using the term "sky" to mean the free non sky channels,.!
