The adventure begins... finally !

Broken Link Removed

It's only a 'rental' and it's only for a week, but after many months (years?) dreaming, planning, researching, the first step has been taken.

Picked it up yesterday, and like a wuss I spent the first night on the drive.
Excellent, warm, pizza, beer & match of the day!!!
Good sleep & hot shower this morning so it all seems to work - or more to the point, I can get things to work.

And so we're off - to a proper campsite :D!

@Langtoftlad have a great week. Hope the weather is kind. Even if it's not, it's still fun sheltering in your little wheeled shed. :) (y)

Well the drive was in bright sunshine but as soon as I pitched up, the heavens opened which is a shame as I was going for a walk around this country park... but the heating is on, and six nations on the TV, so its not all bad. Forecast for tomorrow is better (y)
OT but Thanks everyone for all the 'likes' etc, and also for all the kind & helpful advice in many other threads.

Well alright I took it on Sunday and today's Tuesday, but this photo of the Millennium Bridge in London is unusual because it's 4 dimensional:

Broken Link Removed

Why 4 dimensional? Because it goes back in time. When we were down there, the tide was going out on the river and the foreshore was exposed, so I asked my long-suffering missus to wait 15 minutes so I could go mudlarking. About 25 minutes later I returned with the items shown all laid out on the parapet. Starting on the left is a fossil fern in coal, then a flint flake that has been deliberately struck from a core after the flake above it was also removed, so quite possibly the work of a prehistoric person. Then a rough bit of old pottery that may be pre-Roman, and a mortaria fragment of the type you can see in any Roman museum. After that a collection of medieval and later pottery, a chunk of decorative marble, a small piece of 17th Century Staffordshire slipware, and a collection of clay pipe stems that bring us from the 17th Century to the 20th Century. In the background you have a 21st Century bridge.

So, the history of London all in a single picture. I decided it was best not to dig up the 200lb bomb with the swastika painted on its tail fin ;)

Millennium Bridge [...] goes back in time
Brilliant! That is just SO cool!
(You were probably right not to add the bomb... The picture might have ended up looking a bit different!)

Since we've been walking this bit of the coast path regularly - about 12 years - there's always been a pair of ravens at this particular place, but sadly he (or she) seems to be on his (her) own now...
