Hi Folks, just looking for opinions on a route down France toward the Med.
Do not want to go toll all the way, but prepared to use toll roads when needed.
We prefer the alps side of France to the Atlantic side, but maybe its time to try something new?
Travelling with our canine family and do not like to drive all day.
Any tried and tested route suggestions would be appreciated along with suggestions for locations near the beach on the Med that are not too busy in June. Prefer aires to sites.
Thank you

Hi Fidget, will get a wee look at this on the map- electronic map!!!
Have ventured as far as the Dordogne on the Atlantic side and Chamonix in the Alps, but have never been any further down. Would like to stay at the Alps side as you have listed as we intend heading back into Germany on the way home. 5 week trip planned, so as usual, no place to go and no hurry to get there.

Come and see the beautiful Limousin - down the A20, free autoroute for much of the way; stop off with us to have a look around (you may, like many of our guests, stay longer than a day or two), then there are several great routes to the Med, such as via the lovely old town of Figeac, then the "pink" Albi before reaching the coast.

We'll give you a list of short trips and "days out" from here, and you'll love every one of them!

I would recommend the same route as the Dentons. We tried it last year and it was good. And plenty of Aires along it. The A75 over the Massif Central South of Clermont Ferrand is a magnificent run, and the Millau Viaduct is a great sight.

Thanks for that.
Nearly always stop at Catillion sur Sambre, its a nice quiet spot and lovely town/village.
Any suggestions for aires around the part of the Med that this route takes you to?
It's difficult to judge places from the Aires book. Recommendations please.
