Hi and welcome from Argyll, the Hymer dealer off the M eight near Livingstone is called Knowe Park Caravans, they usually have a few Hymer models in stock have a look but be aware, you may well negotiate a better deal elsewhere.

Knowepark. It's where we got Buffy from.

http://www.kpcm.co.uk/

They are also Chausson dealers.

Some salesmen are better than others, we dealt with Rob Laing :xThumb: aka Young Rob

Not many mention St Andrews Motorhomes, small friendly dealer and vans are open to look around at your leisure unlike Knowepark.:xThumb:

In defense ... Rob at Knowepark did open every van we were interested in, showed us a few things and then left us to flit between them at our leisure...... they keep them locked for a reason.

+1 for Knowepark, no hard sell, plenty of information and browse at your leisure.

Hi, Welcome blades!
50K is a very good budget. You could buy a very convenient motorhome for it.
Hope you might have concluded what to buy with the help of referrals. Wish you happy days, couple! keep sharing your travel experience! And, let us know what you bought and why! (It could be a guideline for the future buyers!)
Cheers!

Strange one this, using an email address of a current Scottish motorhome hire company, yet the IP address is Indian. I won't delete you right away John as I'm intrigued as to what you'll post next. :D

Hi there from Ayr!

Motorhoming is all about compromise ... if you make the right ones you’ll be very happy. The other thing to bear in mind is that your needs change so what suits now may not suit in 5 years time.
From what you’ve said the following thoughts spring to mind ...
- if you want to do a lot of travelling around Scotland think about the size of MH you think suits the type of roads you’ll be driving on
- wilding is great in Scotland so get a couple of solar panels and 2 leisure batteries.
- a motorhome only has one end unlike a caravan. I’m guessing this means you can only have an end bathroom if you don’t have an end bedroom. If you have beds going across the way then you have to clamber across each other to get to the loo in the night. Longitudinal singles/double works well for this.
- Do separate loo and shower mean they’re smaller than if they’re in same place?
How much sitting area have you got vs what you would like? We’re fair weather campers but if you’re hardier you may need more sitting/lounging space.

As advised, do lots of internet browsing and visiting dealers. If there’s any chance you can get down to the huge MH show at the NEC do it and you’ll get a good idea of what you want. There’s a Scottish show at SECC in Feb half term which is ok too but not as big.
Don’t believe what dealers tell you ... double check specs in brochure and online. One dealer told us his van had the longest bed possible from that manufacturer ... he was incorrect and I guess he knew it and hoped we were gullible.
Before you buy ask about dealers on here and also how to protect yourself financially.
