Dick:

Assuming it's a Vario base chassis with the uprated 4 cylinder or the 6 cylinder engine, it should be standard back to the rear of the silencer, then the bodybuilders play around with the tailpipe to suit their coachwork.

It's a 3" pipe on ours, quite a lump.

We have a 616 but touch wood have never had a problem with exhausts to date - he says hand on head.

OK, so a later one then, but I'd still say the same in respect of the exhaust. Manufacturers don't like the basic system being played with because of emission compliance etc.

Have you bought it yet, or just looking ?

Looks fine to me but it was an advisory at MOT. In Maroc at the moment so have effectively put it off till return. On the other hand most of the vehicles here seem to by mercs so I have little worries.

Might be cheaper to get it looked at in Spain or France on the way back, but RHD tailpipes are different to LHD as they come out the opposite side, so possibly a special unless yours is LHD.

Our Vario has the genuine MB pipe now, but it is special for the RHD market, Australia, South Africa etc.

Enjoy the holiday!

After multiple tries and head scratching I have finally got the Mercedes-Benz EPC parts system up and running on one of my laptops.

It covers all vehicles up to I believe 2013, including cars, vans, trucks, 'mogs and buses.

Vehicles are identified by their VIN number.

If anyone has a parts query, drop me an email but I will need the full VIN details.
