Cycleguard do insurance for electric bikes - but only for 90 days per year - max 45 days per trip. But they do have a separate public liability policy which is very reasonable cost wise and is worldwide £5 million cover - so ok for Spain. We have Pro-rider Wayfarer bikes and the supplier say that they cannot supply a COC to cover the bikes - which are clearly made in China - and although legal in the UK are potentially not in Spain. I also raised this with the Caravanning and Camping Club - who are going to look into it further - as there have been reports of someone being fined in Murcia. If its a legal requirement surely this should have been publized far more than it has been. Our household 3rd party liability doesnt cover the bikes in Spain and the Insurers knew nothing about the requirement.

Well we shall use our (throttle equipped) ebikes in Spain after Christmas and see what happens - we do have third party liability insurance however.

How many times.....IF you get pulled by police they will not be looking for third party insurance but full moped insurance!

Isn't there some EU agreement which states that if a vehicle complies with the regulations of the country in which it is registered then it is perfectly legal to use it in any other EU country as a visitor? If this wasn't the case then UK caravans could not be used in EU counties which require them to be registered as for cars (I think this is the case in Germany and the Netherlands??)
