Tomorrow we are going to Grimsby to get sun bits for the van got to fix sum broken hinges on the sink cover and one of the hinges on a under bead locker broke so going to fix them tomorrow

I spent all morning stripping cleaning and descaling two Thetford C200 cassettes.
Like new and I can now decorate my hall through the letterbox

Andy, what did you use chemical wise to clean them with? I did ours with some oxy wash and a small amount of mild bleach in hot water, but I was careful not to get the bleachy water on any rubber. Also I didn't shake too vigorously.

I used Thetford tank cleaner with fairly hot water but the key to success is fully dismantling after a good long soak. The hardest part is removing the 4 internal SS screws (stubby philips no.1 screwdriver) and the level sensor. Once the bits are in the sink it's easy to scrub all the scale off. The tank cleans up pretty well once all the moving parts are out. Silicon spray on all the seals on re assembly

The drill crew on nightshift Broke the drill string 100M surface Levin 160m of drilling equipment in the ground abut 10k worth of kit I got the call at 3am apparently they drew straws to se who was going to wake me up the youngest one drew the short straw
any way to cut a long story I have been working from abut 3.30 am to fix the problem fishing it.
The fishing tool I made with the broken drill string got back to surface at 20.00 hrs. tonight so that's that one sorted time for bead I think

I need to fix a PB54 (Catalina flying boat) kit. That I bought to make for my Grandson for Christmas when he was 11! he is now 25 Head chef and keeps reminding me. Not to worry I have another Grandson 10 perhaps he will be lucky

I ordered some food-safe adhesive/sealant stuff from eBay to fix the cracks that have appeared in the bottom of my van's fridge. Gave it a go today - problem is, the cracks are so narrow (at the moment) I'm not sure whether I got any of the stuff into them rather than just on top of them.

So technically, I've tried to fix something today, rather than actually fixed it

Tomorrow my friendly local mobile MH engineer is visiting to see to the gas burner on the fridge and to lubricate the satellite dish bearing which is turning me blue in the face every time I try to rotate it. I also need to work out why my headlamps aren't switching to full beam - as they both work on dipped, should my starting point be the fuse box, or will the bulbs be buggered? The beam deflector stickers are still on after the trip abroad but I can't imagine that's got anything to do with it. They should still get brighter on full beam.

..and as a follow up to my previous post:

1. The fridge burner was blocked by a lump of rust that had peeled off the inside of the flue and dropped down - removed by a blast from an air compressor. It now ignites first time and has a proper-sized flame on it.
2. Sat dish is better after a spray of WD40 on the bearing but will need proper lubrication next time.
3. Headlamp full beam problem was a blown fuse.

All fixed on my drive for £30.

Today I removed fridge, cleaned partially blocked jet, cleaned out the condensation drain, cleaned the flue, disconnected the myriad of wires on top, contact-lubed all the connections, then reconnected. Tomorrow it goes back in the 'ole.

Tried to fix the hall light by tracking down right light bulb to fit. But no, that didn't fix it so now have to look at the dimmer switch and possibly/ probably replace that. Another trip to B&Q.

But I made 5 fairy doors---they're very pretty!

My utility light hadn't worked for a while and I hadn't needed it in the summer last week bought a new tube for it ...still did not work....turns out it was a wire in the switch that had come loose.. Well at least I have a spare if the tube does go.

Not MH-related but I recently picked up an old cast metal 1940s Belling electric heater from a barn clear out and I want to restore it to sell as a decorative item, as it has a lot of copper-coloured art deco detailing on it. I've completely disabled the electrical connections and dismantled it. Only problem was the ceramic elements were seated on asbestos washers (a common material in old electrical items that get hot). So, donning my dust mask and latex gloves and working outside I very carefully removed them and bagged them for disposal. I've also smeared PVA glue on any bits that were in contact with the washers to stop any remaining particles getting loose. Next conundrum - how to tidy up the tarnished coppery bits? Current solution (literally) is to leave them for a few days in a shallow plastic tray full of Sainsbury's Basics Coca Cola, a snip at only 10p a litre. If it works with old pennies it might work with old electric fires. Only time will tell...

I fixed it for Autosleeper to collect my van ( on a transporter) take it to Oxfordshire to do some remedial work and they are going to do me a free hab check!
