Hi all,

We've bought a new (to us) MH and waiting for the go ahead to go and collect it. In the meantime, when we test drove it, hubby wasn't too happy with the location of the cruise control arm. The stem is located just above your knees on the steering column (as an indicator would be) and the gap between it and the steering wheel is quite small, so hubby was either knocking it with his knees or catching it with his fingers!

Is it something that can be moved/relocated at all?

Thanks :)

If it was an aftermarket installation it could be moved.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know whether it classed as an aftermarket installation as I believe it is part of the Autotrail SE pack?

Sounds like a Mercedes to me, that is Standard Positioning for them. You do get used to it very quickly and actually the push up to increase, down to decrease function is very good!! Stick with it, I found it strange for about the first three or four times I used it. Cheers

No, it's actually a Fiat. As you say, we will stick with it and see how we get on….just wondered if it was something easily remedied ;)

We have a Peugeot Boxer (very similar to the Fiat Ducato) with the cruise control in exactly that position. I have absolutely no problem with this. I am relatively short so have the seat fairly well forward. If your husband does have a problem with it, it may well be worth trying some simnple fore and aft adjustment on the driving seat before looking at more radical solutions.

Same here. Conscious of it being low, but it doesn't really get in the way and is very convenient to use.

Our last van had CC fitted as an aftermarket one (by Vanbitz) and it was in the same place

Hi roseierose, we have the AT Dakota (Fiat) and ours is on the steering wheel (under the indicators), same place as yours. We assume that it was part of the SE pack, but you could check the downloads on the AT info pages.

Ours is in the same location.. Id imagine it's the standard place to be fitted. Causes no problems.

Hi all, thanks for your replies....problem solved, we think :)

We brought it home today and hubby pulled back the rubber gator on the arm and found that the shaft was in a swivel joint and he was able to loosen it and move it. We'll have a drive in it tomorrow and see if how it feels.

We've had an aftermarket fitted one and now have a Fiat fitted one, hubby doesn't have a problem with the latter but with the former he once bashed it whilst getting into his seat and broke it .... that was £50 down the pan ....
