Just wondering what people want/expect from storage facilities, and how much does it cost ?.

I am lucky in that I have some ground to keep ours but wondered if there could be a pocket money earner in offering storage for others. (I would love to retire :ROFLMAO:)

Any input would be useful...

Very nice.
My storage is a lot less visible though, as it has a 10ft brick wall and the hydraulically operated gate is also 10ft high and opaque. From outside no one can see the vans, which I think is a plus. Price is £440 per annum.

There are a lot of storage places that are not particularly 'secure'. A friend just keeps his on a farm. The farmer can see it but isn't on the case 24/7. Obviuosly a bit cheaper.

Ours is under cover, secure entry gate, secure cameras etc. Very expensive though: £65 a month. Hate paying it, but can't find anything else under cover. We used to keep it on our large driveway, but we downsized and moved into town.

You can get reductions on your Insurance premium if the storage site is Link Removed registered - they have an award scheme that rates the site, but I don't think it's free to the site owners so it may add to your costs.

I currently use a rural outdoor site with two heavily-locked gates, a tall metal fence (or back hedge with no road access) and CCTV that costs about £30 a month. It's part of a larger storage/removals site so there's people around most of the time.

One thing to look out for - what are their written conditions for ending your contract, ie what period of notice before payments stop? I was once ripped off by some miserable git who insisted on a further three months' worth of payments after I'd left their site, but had shown me no written contract to sign. I'd paid up front for the year so couldn't get a refund. My current site takes monthly direct debit payments.

Also - rural outdoor sites will have an active rodent population, so suitable precautions should be taken in your engine bay.

MagicSB, you mentioned rodents. I hve space in my gated forecourt but we are very rural and there are rodents. What precautions do you suggest?
Also should I cover the MH or just use it when possible in the winter to give it an airing?
Cheers

My pitch is 9 metres and there are already three tag axle autotrails. You might find there is a waiting list or you might get lucky.
My van has moved pitch since this thread started.

Something else that is crucial for storage is convenience and easy motorway access :) :)
