Has anyone driven this road in a motorhome, please? Checking it on Google maps, there are some parts that look a bit hairy - but it's difficult to judge the road width. We'd really like to travel to Dunquin from Dingle, and visit the beautiful locations that featured in Ryan's Daughter.

We'd love to receive any other suggestions for places to visit in SW Ireland.

Our motorhome is 7.6 metres and we did the Beara, Kerry and Dingle peninsulas with no problems at all. Our favourite has to be the Beara peninsula. Our favourite spot? Teddy O'Sullivan's pub - we bought a meal and we stayed in the car park - wonderful place with fab views.

It's a bit narrow but lots of motorhomes do it every summer (and usually they are left hand drives from Europe!).

Beautiful scenery and worth it.

We're at the point of trying to decide whether to book the ferry from Cairn Ryan across to NI and do a tour right round the coast to Galway Bay and many other places towards the south. We will either book the ferry for some time in May or just head down towards Hampshire and visit family.
I would prefer to do the Irish trip, it's only a 45 minute drive from home to Cairn Ryan. I have always wanted to visit the areas where Ryan's Daughter was filmed, but don't want to go when the school holidays are in full swing. We would take a full month to do it.

The cheapest return we can find for May is £212.......that's not too bad for an 0730 hrs departure and returning around midnight. But after May it seems to get a lot dearer

Oooh thanks - we are 7.4m, so it's good to know that a slightly larger 'van had ho problems!

We go there often in our car with visitors. Tour busses go round it in a clockwise direction and it can be quite hairy if you go anti-clockwise.

You can also go to just the Ryan's daughter spot in an anti-clockwise direction without any problems. There's a campsite too, Oratory House camping.
