Hi my Roof lights on my 1958 Autosleeper Amethyst are now showing wear and tear I.E Cracks on the outer casing, as I don't really want to replace them as the rest of the lights are in very good condition, does anyone know if it is possible to just replace just the outer cover?

After nearly 60 years I'm not surprised:winky:

I don't think you can buy just the outer shell for the roof lights.

many many years! since I was a kid
yes you can buy just the domes, but the plastic arms and springs and their mounts go brittle over the years. its really not difficult to replace the whole skylight and can be done diy in about an hour and a half including tea break

unscrew the lower frame and blind
unscrew the clamps holding the skylight in
from outside use an old credit card and cut through the old mastic whilst gently pulling the skylight upwards. eventually it will just pull straight out
clean away any old mastic left behind using the credit card as a scraper
then clean the opening thoroughly with white spirit
stop for a cup of tea
apply a strip of mastic around the edges of the new skylight
make sure its pointing in the right direction, then place it into the hole left by the old skylight

inside put the clamps in place and start tightening each in turn a bit at a time. but dont overtighten
check the skylight works
fit new frame and blind that came with the new skylight
outside cut off any excess mastic that oozed out
thats it done

I would prefer just to change the dome if possible as the interior is still fine.

Not sure if thiselpsbut we contacted Markle and they gave them as the Fiamma ones were the wrong size for our older van. Could not find clear domes which was a disappointment .

Thanks for that as I live close to the seller who wants £13.80 postage, I offered to pick them up my self. and was turned down. Now I am left wondering what's going on Pete
