I would suspect Dawn that the van is fitted with air assisted suspension, just stick the air line on it until you get it right for a smooth ride :thumb:

Eh! No she didn't (I did of course), what should SHE see underneath then

Something like this.....

DONT run the van is the bags have no, or very little, pressure in them....they can be damaged.

Mine run at 60psi holding up the arse end of 7500kg

Dont know wghat pressure yours would be but i would start around 40psi and see what the ride quality is like....a bit hard, reduce pressure....a bit spongy....increase pressure.

Other folks will give a more accurate pressure range

Hi, I think you will find it's for your spare wheel, if you don't have A/S

I had an Autotrail and its almost certainly for the spare wheel underneath. If you look underneath there will be along tube connecting this point to the valve on a spare wheel so you don,t have to get at the wheel to check the pressure.

that reminds me I must fit my airline extension onto my spare on this van and cabletie the end to the towbar. much easier to top up the spare using that than crawling under every time

Several years now
If you find that it is for topping up air suspension, then by using this useful tip you could also gain some extra weight capacity. It might work with the spare wheel, not sure.

Top it up with Helium !! The amount of Helium which would be required to top up the air suspension should give something like 80kg of "upward lift".

Easily proved. Go to a weighbridge, weigh the MH, then ask one of the guys at the weighbridge if they have any "industrial grade" Helium handy (don't ask for scientific grade as that is way too expensive). Explain what you intend to do and they should be only too pleased to offer advice and help, that's when being a woman comes in handy, esp. if your blonde, us guys would have to offer the price of a couple of pints.

As an added bonus, any squeaks which had been due to the suspension are now at a much higher pitch and therefore inaudible !!

much like filling ordinary tyres with pure nitrogen (only super hot motorsports tyres benefit slightly)

i watched an episode of mythbusters some time ago where they had a lorry load of birds. does the lorry get lighter if all the birds take flight inside the van and effect the handling. result was a barely readable difference

why not fill the tyres with lpg? great as backup to gaslow and spectacular if you get a blowout:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I’m accustomed to a smooth ride.

Why deny the obvious?
