I have just fitted a new single Gasit bottle and in-locker filling system (see my other post about it).

Anyway silly question before I fill it up. When filling up with LPG do you keep the bottle tap open or closed? Or doesn't it matter at all?

If it fills thru a separate valve that shuts at 80%, then it shouldn't matter, but better closed I would have thought.

It's the same as Gaslow and their user instructions asks to close the valve or both if twin bottles. However many people admit to forgetting this without any adverse consequences

In theory it does not matter as the shut off valve closes at 80% but it's good practice to close it just in case the shut off valve fails/sticks.

Thanks. I know that it fills through a separate valve (I have just fitted it), but I was after knowing if I needed to turn the main valve to the regulator off when it is filling through that separate valve.

Just another daft question, how the h... does the gauge work it's just a bit of plastic clip on the top , shows a float in the pictures but it isn't connected to anything else, saying that it does seem to work:Doh:

The internal float operates a metal rod. The position of the rod is read by the guage magnetically.

Many people say the guage is rubbish BUT that is because they don't read the instructions to understand it.

No didn't say it was rubbish , but by the picture it looks as if it's actually connected to something, mine fell off while I was positioning it else I wouldn't have known it was loose, thought it was broke :Doh:but yeah as I said it does work:thumb:

I suspect the Gaslow and Gasit cylinders are made in exactly the same factory to exactly the same standards; just different paint used

Correct
In Portugal I think
