I'm looking to buy one to carry onboard and I want low power consumption and reliability.
So far I'm considering the 1400watt Karcher which I can run off my inverter comfortably.
I think this has a 300 litre per hour flow rate so I'd get 20 minutes from a full tank. I imagine maybe 10 minutes use to generally get the heavy crap off wheels and lower bodywork so it fits the bill. I can return from trips with a full tank to the storage and wash it down before it all dries hard on.

EDIT Karcher K2 comes in just over 4kg

I have 2 Karchers, one was a freebie with car insurance, still going strong 5 years on, the other I bought in 2000 ( Equivalent is now the K4) and has had a lot of use. Used it yesterday and its starting to lose power and making funny noises occasionally. 14 years isn't bad!
I can recommend them, K2 looks pretty good.

Nilfisk is superior to Karcher and usually cheaper too! We've had both types and the Nilfisk is a better quality especially with the aluminium housing, rather than a plastic one which a lot of the Karcher models now (if not all) have and are very prone to leaking. :thumb:

So far this at £63 which is less than half the price of screwfix is looking favourite purely due to price and weight. I'm not going into business with it just the occassional wash down. Really I need to see them side by side in the flesh :thumb:

They were probably built to last 16 years ago like everything else but now they're made to a price and a "limited lifespan" :thumb:

Too late now but was not size a factor? I would have thought a more compact version would have been better for carrying on board. But then I have a PVC and we don't have space for anything bigger than a sponge!

I'd imagined all the ones of this spec would be similar in size, do you know of something Kleenex size :roflmto:

240 x 280 x 490 cm is that regarded as huge?

Just be care full how you use it on your vehicle , they can sometimes blow the mastic from the seals on coach built bodies and caravans etc and cause leaks,

Most often it will be in the car that I leave at the storage where Robbie is normally parked.
I'll return from my trip with a full tank of water and clean him down :thumb:
Rarely will I travel with it unless to show off in the middle of a large Aire :ROFLMAO:

Depends how long you are 'away' ..

I bought a small Karcher for full timing.. it proving invaluable.. cleaning not just the RV, trailer and RIB.. but bicycles, (they get into a terrible mess on a rack even with a cover) chairs, mats, groundsheets etc... Only used it when we had an EHU and a water tap close by.

For a holiday ? .. no, I don't think so ..

oh..and the little Karcher.. still going strong and now 9 years old..

I have this model. I've had more expensive versions in the past. This works well and is light and easy to set up. http://www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk/Karcher-K2-Compact-High-Pressure-Washer-in-Yellow/id-KAR-PRE-K2COMPACT-Y?gclid=CNiNp7ay_rwCFagBwwodSUgAzg&gclsrc=aw.ds

Hubby does a bit of buying and selling and has had lots of difference pressure washers and by far the best have been the Nilfisk ones, they are now more reliable than most of the Karchers simply because they have an aluminium pump casing, rather than the plastic ones that the Karchers have which are very prone to splitting after being used for a while and also you have to be careful with where/how you store them over winter as you only need to have a small amount of water in them, then a bit of frost, and they are stuffed. For what they are, they are also expensive. He won't touch Karchers now as they are just too much trouble.

Older Karchers do last because most of them had an aluminium pump casing, but the new ones don't.

After two weeks of being messed about by Amazon I finally picked one up today from Screwfix £69.99
Just tried it out and I must say it is confidence inspiring, certainly superb value.
Now I'm looking forward to trying it at the van on inverter and tank supply
