I seem to be sending more and more stuff back to retailers because of faults. Gone are the days you only replaced things because something newer and better was released ( about every 20 years!)

In the last year, I have bought and returned for replacement.
1, Fuji X10 camera ( 3 times, now replaced with X20)
2, 2 x Garmin Nuvi sat navs.
3, GoPro Hero 3+ black.
4, Roadhawk HD dash cam ( yesterday)
5, Tracker system ( battery lost 40% of charge in a week, should last 12 months)
6, Dell Latitude tablet.
7, Davis weather station
8, iPhone 4s
9, Samsung Galaxy 2
10, new battery for above
11, Harmony remote control ( battery swelled up alarmingly)
12, De Longhi coffee maker.

I'm not buying anything else for a good long while now.

........maybe tomorrow.......:ROFLMAO:

Everything is made for a price to sell millions.

Years ago things were made because people enjoyed making them with pride.

To buy items that last years today you will have to spend x 5 times more:Eeek:

I remember back when a Roberts transistor radio was really expensive compared to a Phillips , but was so much better.

A video camera from Currys costing £200 may last a year or two on the odd holiday or trip--

A professional broadcast camera costing £20 k or more will run 24/7 at high quality for years.

The manufactures know that joe public do not want to pay for a pro camera so we have to put up with what they sell us.:whatthe:

Good call, we've had our door knocker for over 15 years and it's still going strong.
Mind you, I service it annually.......

I have a dish washer that has been doing great service for 45 years, never broke down once, although there is also a high output of grief and I wants, with quite a few why don't you's.

Generally a good dose of selective deafness can help cope with it though. :ROFLMAO:

well over 5 years
quality on products over the last 10 years had dropped dramatically

does it have to do with less and less manufacturing in the uk?

Our first hoover was my nan's it was a hoover constellation. It finally packed up 10 years ago. Since then I have had a new hoover on average every 3 years.

Its a throw away society where nothing seems to last for long whether its a wardrobe, table or washing machine. Even dishcloths arent as thick as they used to be.

Gone is the craftsmanship in many things,

can they make the metal on cars much thinner?
why is real wood replaced by chipboard and mdf when so many trees are felled?
why can they get away with programming electric items to breakdown after a certain period of time?

Its not you, its the age of greed and the age of cheap products that dont last long

No one but not nobody would dare apply a sticker, unless euthanasia had been refused, anyway it was once a common brand till the sTories and slabour wrecked the economy. However this is the wrong forum and thread to go into this. I know you were just having a dig and I appreciate the humour of it. :winky:
