Quick introduction. We have taken the plunge and after ordering a brand new, and our first ever motorhome nearly 6 months ago delivery, date is within weeks!
The spare room is full of:
Anything still salvageable from our camping days
bits from shows I never thought existed
Half of ikea marketplace
Books on aires/stellplatz and britstops
Maps, maps, maps
The destinations for the next 11 months are scoped out and first official away is Germany at Easter for 10 days
Excited to say the least, just a shame hubby and I are working full time for many a year to come but intend embracing the whole experience

Most exciting, but make sure you go away for a few short trips. We went all of 10 miles for our first outing.

These shakedown trips are great for working out what extra things you need. I found working out the things you don't need takes a lot longer!

Have a small notebook and a crayon to hand so you can write down things as they occur to you, otherwise you will forget if inspiration was triggered by a glass of wine!

Thank you. There's a Brit stop about 5 miles from the dealer which will be night one. The following weekend will either camp on our drive or as you say go 10 miles down the road.
It would be good to here from others of "essential bits they forgot too late and wish they had known before" that could be a whole thread in itself........

Welcome :welcomefunster:
Have a local shakedown trip to make sure you haven't forgotten to pack anything important.
God luck and safe journeys.

The first thing you should do with it is to drive to the weighbridge to find out how much load you can take. They allow +/- 10% for the empty weight. You'll normally find they actually mean +9.5% to +10%, which results in about half the declared available load...

Welcome. Can't add to the previous suggestion re local trip with pen and paper to make a note of anything that you're short of/want/feel might be useful next time. But above all else, remember the bottle opener...

newbie question - how do you find a weigh bridge? is there a web site and can you just turn up or do you pre book?
