Have just booked a Swift Escape 624 for a few days to try out a motorhome before I purchase. Not the configuration I would have chosen but I don't have too many options up this way; I will have to travel about 150 miles to Glasgow to pick it up as local dealers are too expensive for a week and will not partially book a week during certain periods. Anyway, a question for the dog owners on this site. How do you safely transport your valuable commodity in your motorhome? Ours is a Lab Retriever and will be 13 months old when we travel so almost full size.

Thanks

Steve

We have a couple of jack Russell's and they travel in a cage on the floor between the seats of the rear lounge. :thumb:

Our Archie has been clipped in in his harness in one of the rear seats... He hates being there so normally he lies between the front seats.. We normally clip him to a front seat belt mount (where the seat belt slips through the harness)... But I have to admit sometimes.. When he's between us at the front.. He isn't fastened in. (he finds it impossible to stretch out into his favourite sleeping position)

Clix Car Safe harness - clips direct into seat belt socket rather than sliding over seat belt itself. Dog is not allowed on furniture so travels on vet bed pad on floor at side of lounge travelling seat. No problems.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
Our two borders are caged in a fabric crate. On the bottom sideways facing bunk. Behind the fridge freezer. To be exact. The crate stays there now the kids don't come often , anymore. But was collapsed and put away once at our destination , previously.

For my two, the 'dinette' (not that it's ever been used as one ) is made into a bed, there is one fixed seat belt and a 'zip line' between the 2 seat backs. Both in harnesses and both clipped in. :thumb:

Harnesses clipped into seat belt fasteners, its the only way for me.I did think of a cage but don't fancy it in the back of the head if anything did happen.

Harness clipped to the seatbelt in front lounge, so he feels he is still part of the action - was going to try a cage once, however the 'song and dance' we had trying to get him in a bike trailer taught us not to attempt it. :roflmto:

Next question

Thanks folks. What do you do if you only have two travelling seats ie only two seat belts?
