Tesco vouchers - Sue saw recently a thread (can't remember where) about use of Tesco vouchers on DFDS. As we have a fair amount in coupons, we thought it a good idea to convert them into 3 times their value in DFDS voucher for use in May. Only when we printed the vouchers did we see the terms and conditions which state that it is not available to passengers with Motorhomes to France - only for ferries to Holland . Sue got back to Tesco immediately, who unquestioningly refunded the Tesco vouchers to her Tesco account. Very disappointing, as we thought our ferry would be paid for. However, I don't think £88 is going to break the bank. By the way if anyone has found a DFDS code please can you post on chat

Hi- there is no code right now, the offer at the NEC show was a 25% discount on DFDS when booked through the Caravan Club if booked before 28th Feb - and will be valid for when you want to go!:thumb:

Have you considered Eurotunnel, they are 3 times the Tesco voucher price and it is the same price for any size motorhome.

Thanks for that - confirms what Norman had read that it was C&CC offer. From our brief membership of C&CC - just one year, we found that taking into account membership, there was no saving. So now we just go on DFDS website and book without the code, which has to be booked before the end of the month, anyway. We have found crossings for £88 return so not too bad.

There are two offers of interest open to all.

1. Book Early: 20% for all February bookings for travel during 2014.
2. Caravans go free during March (Stop spitting at the back there!) includes the offer of "Motorhomes go for the same price as a car" for travel between 3rd and 27th March.

Go direct to the ferry company and miss out the middle man. No club member required.

He Norman

From Holland to France is only a short distance

Paul

Just next door for you :ROFLMAO: We need to drive 700 miles to get to France and have to use a ferry or a tunnel. Sadly the Ferry is a third of the price of the tunnel, I would rather use the Tunnel.

The DFDS offer does allow motorhomes from Newcastle to Holland - would the tremendous saving in miles to Dover work to your advantage?

Thanks for all your suggestions. Went online yesterday evening and found MyFerrylink and booked with them at £75.93 return - outward on 4th May and back on 12th June. It was essential this year to go from Dover rather than, say, Newcastle, as we're already on south coast for our son's commissioning in Dartmouth. All done and dusted - now to explore the bundle of tourist information that's arrived from German Tourist Board. Planning to tour Germany taking in the Black Forest. Any suggestions welcomed.:Smile:

That is very true, the 20% offer doesn't include motorhomes.

But its worse than that! Select motorhome at the start of the booking and then add the offer code later in the buying process. The site doesn't say the code is invalid. It proceeds with the code but changes the vehicle to a car.

Beware!

Hi Norman

If the Black Forest is on your list, dont forget to fill up fuel and if needed to buy cigarettes in Luxembourg.
Luxembourg is one of the cheapest countries to buy both :thumb:

If you need it i can provide the best place to fill up and even a free of charge camperplace with electricity and dumpfacilities, its in Belgium and near the border of Luxembourg

Have fun with the preparations
