Motorhomed for almost 7 years - now going nowhere!
As some MHs have ladders, presumably to access the roof, is it safe to assume that all roofs -including Autotrails - can bear the weight of a person?

there may be some which cannot take the weight but i cant think of any.

if it doesnt have a ladder it doesnt mean it cant be walked on....its usually just the converters not fitting a ladder.

common sense rules here......dont stand on the overcab bulge.....its usually ABS and wont take the weight.
dont stand close to an opening....roof vents, roof windows ect....or the very edge of the roof
dont start jumping up and down, or dancing.
the weakest part of any flat surface is the edge...any edge.

pics below show a caravan but the same thing applies to motorhomes

Hi I have an Autotrail Apache 700, 2012 and I was told by the guy who fitted the solar panel it was safe to walk on the roof provided you stay clear of the obvious bulge etc. What I do is I open the skylight fully in the rear lounge, using a small pair of step ladders climb through the opening onto the roof wearing no shoes and I scrubbed the green algae off and checked the solar panel is clean. ps I weigh 13 stone. I hope it helps. Terry

Looking at that 2nd pic, could be better than an A frame.
Would you get away with it in Spain - hell of a set of ramps needed.

looking at those pics with all the support blocks just in view under the chassis and axle I would say that test rig 018 has been substantially strengthened and will probably have internal support that we can't see through its black windows.
