Are you vulnerable?

Some very large websites and forums including, Adobe, MacRumour and Vbulletin have been hacked very recently. We Have Not Been Hacked (Yet) But, we would be relatively easy prey for these hackers. So what? On the face of it, we have nothing to steal, the only data of yours that we hold is your email address and a made up user name.

However, encrypted in our database along with your email are the passwords you use to access this site. IF you use the same email and password combination here as you do elsewhere, such as your email provider, ISP, your bank, eBay, Amazon, even a utility supplier etc then if this site is ever hacked, the hackers may well be able to steal from you.

If you are vulnerable, change your motorhomefun password for something unique that you don't use elsewhere and please do it today, it's a jungle out there in scammer land.

Use a password manager Keith. I couldn't live without one:Smile:
https://lastpass.com/
http://www.roboform.com/

But how do you know they cannot be hacked? How secure is their site?
If someone gets hold of your laptop/phone/tablet they will have all your passwords.wont they?
Would it not be better to keep your passwords on your computer but encrypt them?

How safe are these password managers? I guess they must be or folk would not use them.

It just seems a little weird to entrust all your passwords and logins to an anonymous web service....

I must admit I could do with one, especially for those places I do not login to so frequently.

i have only just started using lastpass, but it seems good to me; be aware if you do not log out of lastpass before you close down your pc then it will be active when you start up again so immediate access to web sites as and when you try to log in to them.

the theory is i am sure you know is to have to remember 1 strong password for your password manager:thumb:

lastpass does encrypt a local register of your passwords. it can also be set to automatically log you into most websites saving you having to look them up

all protected by a master password. choose something with numbers letters and symbols is best. for instance [HI]thiS123!ismy_paSSword[/HI]. choose something memorable to you and add uppercase letters numbers and symbols to make it a strong password. you wont have to type it too often with a password manager:thumb:

Not used lastpass on my Mac so can't comment But I have used Roboform on a Mac for a few years. Works excellently with Safari and Firefox::bigsmile:

I cannot see your password to help. If any of you are stuck as Peter is let me know I can put a temporary password in place so that you are then able to change it.
