I would vote for 'The application of heat to the food' seems to work quite well :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Mike

Ah-I missed the Poll bit -sorry .where's Cadac? that's what we use if we aren't using 'normal pots and pans'

I'm confused as well - what are you cooking?
As a method, not a particular recipe.

Not helpful

I prefer the Tak-Awa method myself. :winky:

But funny:ROFLMAO::Smile::ROFLMAO:

One year. A whole one!
I think it depends what you prefer eating as to which method is best.

I've bought a double skillet after all the enthusiasm about them from people here, but I've not used it yet.

In well over 10 years of camping, we've found a decently large lidded pot or two and a large cast-iron skillet straddling two burners suffices for most things. And some imagination.

Now we've the RMB, I've gone double skillet and a Cadac.

But we also have this and it's wonderfully brilliant....:thumb:

We've got a Cadac which is ok for barbie type food but a chore to get out, clean and put away and a Double Skillet with which the food is a bit "samey". Bought a halogen cooker cheap at a C&CC site but it takes too much room. Give me pots and frying pans [STRIKE]any [/STRIKE] most times. :roflmto:

Where on earth do you find room in a MH for a cadac? Looks like it won't go through the door for starters.

If you have a oven in the van, then pans are ok, but if you have no oven then a double skillet every time.

This one comes in a bag that fits in our ex gas locker ::bigsmile:
Using an optional extra-the Paella pan-all the time, you can cook most things and it's easy to clean.
We now leave the griddle plates, BBQ plate and Skotel at home.

That is expensive for a little 'un! One thing to be aware of too with the smaller ones (3.5 and 7L) they take longer to cook stuff and don't usually get as hot due to them having smaller halogen bulbs/wattage, if you can accommodate a full sized (10L or more) then you will find they are much better to cook with.

I rather up helpfully ticked all choices! I have and use all of them, but also go for the tak-awa option and eating out. Oh and the cadac! No wonder we need a bigger van :ROFLMAO:

P.S also have a pressure cooker too!

My favourite gadget at the moment though is the Czech Cooker (Remoska)

Well we have a full cooker in ours so it's just normal pots and pans, and I count the steamer as normal, cos that's useful and saves gas at home or away (or elec if you use elec)

Most meat gets done in a frying pan with the lid these days, which doesn't actually mean we eat stuff 'fried' exactly. I expect you'd say we use the frying pans (yes we have 2!) as skillets on those occasions. We have 2 because when we do have a fry-up you always need a clean one for the eggs! and use the one with the bacon and sausage fat and all the bits and pieces of overcooked this and that, to do the fried bread! Drool.

Sometimes use the grill, but it ain't brill in this van, and sometimes use the oven but hardly worth it for eg 2 chops.

Don't think a slow cooker has been mentioned. Good for stews, curries and the like. Handy abroad where electric supplies are generally stingy. Useful for winter cooking when you need to be indoors.

Does anyone carry a hotplate for use when hooked up.
We are considering this but is it worth the cost/weight/space to save a bit of gas?

Always when travelling abroad, as you can not buy Calor Gas in Europe it helps eke it out.
