not long enough
thanks

my first thought was no more toll roads in France for me then, we do our best to avoid them anyway

now I wonder if this is just another company trying to panic us into buying something to auto pay tolls?

it might end up like the breathalysers and never get implemented (hopefully)

but thanks for the heads up, I will await further opinion

I think you will find this only applies to Goods vehicles..
If you have been travelling France on many of the main non toll routes you may have seen the overhead gantries that have lots of cameras in place..
This is what they are for....

Was some debate and mention of it some time ago either on here or another forum..

Don't panic just yet,
I think from what I have read in the French press this is just for HGV goods vehicles and not for non commercial vehicles.I am not at home at present so cannot check but believe that's correct and have already seen one burnt to a cinder!!! Very French.:ROFLMAO:

I thought there was a post on here recently about this and it only applies to Goods Vehicle.

I've had a look but can't find that post anywhere.

Just to clarify.....
This is NOT Toll motorways !!!!

IT is for the main N roads like the N10 etc... Lots of trucks are using the N roads to get away from motorway toll's but now it seem they are making them pay a "road tax" as well..:Doh:
Along many of the main routes they have installed overhead gantries that are loaded with camera.....

The écotaxe only applies to commercial vehicles over 3.5T -

- les véhicules de transports de personnes ;
- les véhicules d'intérêt général prioritaires ;
- les véhicules et matériels agricoles définis par l'article R311.1 du code de la route ;
- les véhicules, propriété de l’État ou d’une collectivité locale, affectés à l’entretien et à l’exploitation des routes ;
- les véhicules utilisées pour la collecte de lait ;
- les véhicules militaires.

C'est clair!! :thumb:

and its been scrapped for now anyway following protests by the French haulage industry. So panic over.

Yes, it's been a fun few weeks here. But at least when this government makes a mistake or oversteps the mark it is immediately reminded of the fact.

This is OUR country - the Govt. is there to look after the boring stuff while we enjoy our lives.
The impression I get in UK is that the country belongs to the govt. and the 'people' are just tolerated...

this was discussed at a liitle lenght the other day on posts...

it does not cover motorhomes :Doh: and if french truckers ahve their way it will not get implented. it is already been suspended due to " aggressive" action by truckers.

Problem with french toll booths is that they often can't distinguish between class 2 or 3 never mind wether your not goods vehicle !. Was charged both 2 and 3 on way to Italy this year.
