Just had a marvellous long (van less) weekend in Seville and cannot believe the blaze of colour in the trees, shrubs and bushes.... in mid October. Fabulous!

We have spent several short breaks in Seville over the years, always in Hostals near the Plaza de Armas, cheap and convenient.Usually early spring or Semana Santa which is something else in Seville, never tire of the City, best tapas over the Puente de Isabel II in Triana.

Our favourite City, next best Malaga which is overlooked by most who use the airport but is a vibrant typical Spanish City.::bigsmile:

For us at least, Sevilla is the jewel in the Andalucian crown, it never ceases to impress, entertain or dazzle us, each visit is like a first visit. It offers just about everything the visitor might be looking for, religiously, antiquity, entertainment, good food and a great river to enjoy.
Our latest visit uncovered the fabulous "Antiquarium" which is a must visit site for those interested in Roman antiquities displayed within an ultra modern structure...... an amazing presentation. Not expensive visit, think it was €2 as pensioners, bit more for young uns

For a first visit the Cathedral and Giralda tower,Alcazar are next to one another. Parque Maria Luisa and Plaza Espana is a nice and relaxing walk, close together and if you like architecture many of the buildings in the area are from the 'Expocision Iberoamericana de Sevilla 1929'.

Museo de Bellas Artes is well worth a visit and I think it is free on Sundays, buy a rough guide or Lonely Planet guide, well worth it if you are stopping three days.

Other than that just wander round and enjoy the atmosphere of the place. We have found the Triana area best for tapas, the area around Plaza Altozano and Calle San Jacinto has enough bars to keep you going for several nights but in the evening many places do not open until 8.30/9.00. Arenal is also good but we have found the area around the Cathedral and Juderia(Santa Cruz) very touristy with set tapas menus, try and do what the Spanish do and sample the food etc in several, not the cheapest way of doing things but very enjoyable.

That's just my view, you will want to find your own things to do in your own way but I am sure you will enjoy ::bigsmile:

Will give that a visit next year when we shall be in Seville for a few days in March celebrating my 65th birthday. We have visited the archaeological museum a few years ago but don't remember the underground exhibition, maybe it's new.::bigsmile:
