We were very disappoint when we went there. Dunno somehow, but I had built up this mystique about the place, stretching right back to the '60s, MAN!! ::bigsmile: And so to get there, expecting to see half naked hippies smoking joints, only to find grabbing parking people, threw me off a bit.

The bane of driving in modern Britain. I love how when in rural France, and in most towns, you can park almost anywhere you wish at no cost.

Imagine the chaos that would ensue if the same were allowed here :roflmto:

lindisfarne castle

I went there a few years ago now on a bus trip ours was the only one there and I absolutely loved it, the castle I mean, well worth the climb. I thought it had a magical feel to it so calming and atmospheric the views were amazing I joined the national trust as a result of that visit :thumb:

Being on the island at high tide is our favourite time spring and autumn next to no visitors and the locals are so much friendlier.:thumb:

Some very different opinions there! - clearly a place one needs to visit in order to form your own opinion.

Especially as it's NT, we are always saying we don't use our investment in them enough!

I have stayed at the Crown & Anchor next to the Priory ruins on 2 occasions - it's just great when all the day trippers have to go because of the tide, and the place becomes so much quieter. Shame one can't camp there!

Been to Lindisfarne many times, as said before best visited when tourists have gone home, once went at sunset and in a snow storm unreal! Loads of seals to be spotted out towards Ross sands. Fantastic part of the world. :thumb:
