Why does it cost more to download a MP3 album from Amazon, compared to having a CD copy made and sent through the post cheaper from them:Angry:
A CD is about £2 cheaper on some

I thought a download costs nothing:Eeek:

started when I was 11 with my parents-forgot to stop!been real one since 1980!
Downloaded books also cost more than printed books when on offer as downloads attract VAT.
In years to come will we see a 'first edition download' on the Antiques Roadshow?

A download does cost the host. They need to be stored, backed up, cataloged, kept in a retrieval system, and delivered, the artist still needs to be paid etc. That said, they should be cheaper than the disc:Doh:

When we had our family history company we used to scan old directories &c and sell them on CD. The cost of a CD, case and insert is pennies, far less than shipping in fact.

I would expect that there are costs in terms of bandwidth/transmission for downloads but I don't know how they compare to the costs of CD supply.

Probably came came in when they saw what a killing Apple were making with their iTunes robbery.
Amazon did the same with MP3's but were already selling CD's at reduced price and did not want to spoil that golden egg so just continued with that as it was

I always worry about these torrent sites ,-- I used limewire once--

Can hackers look at my pc files

Would my bandwidth be running all day letting others download music from me

Will BIG BROTHER be watching over me :Eeek:

Yes and No!

Limewire is not a torrent site, its P2P sharing (person to person) and fairly safe

Your bandwidth would only be used by others with files, for eg music that you put up for sharing/download and then only when you are connected to the download site. You can also download programs (DANGEROUS) and films, TV programs or pretty much anything that people will upload

Hackers come from anywhere not just torrent/download sites, there is a rival Motorhome site that's had a major problem with hackers and virus's :Eeek:

Big brother is watching you everywhere

Like everything in life it's safer if you know what you are doing and have good protection but if you never took some risks you would never do anything :thumb:
