I am a trackday instructor and needed a vehicle that I could live in and also transport my bike in as well. I looked around for existing conversions, but nothing was really suitable. All the self-converted had a bed above the bike part, but that seemed a bodge to me.

So I decided to design my own. It had to transport the bike and allow me to sleep with the bike in when by myself. And when with the missus, we could have a full king-sized bed.
A place in Barnsley saw the spec and after a price was agreed, they did a superb job.

I bought the van off Ebay and took it to them with the bike inside. I said "Measure the bike and make sure it fits when the conversion is done "

My mum died just previously, and the money she left me paid the conversion.

All the new windows have fly screens and black out blinds. And there's a huge roof light as well

Plenty of space in the back

Nice job. :thumb:

Have you thought about getting one of these www.bumpstop.co.uk to make the bike more secure when travelling ?
You could use it as a paddock stand when you have the bike out of the van.

I have thought about it, but then it becomes a fixture in the van. It has 4 secure tie down points and I have the bike in or out, in 2 or 3 minutes.

Hi there, well it looks from the pictures that they have done a really cracking job on the conversion, I have been looking for a Company who I can rely on to do a good job & it looks like I may have just found it especially as I live in the Wakefield area.
the Van I have is absolutely ideal for us layout wise I would want an exact replication but on a newer if not new Van. My current one is a 2001 Ducato which is fine but has 76 K on it and as I've just received some money (due to the same reason as yourself) I thought I should go ahead & get it done.
I will be asking a lot of the Van, extended trips into Europe for possibly 2 months at a time so I want something I can rely on.
If you don't want to post the Company's name please could you PM me with their details & if its not being too cheeky how much it cost you.

Sorry, the company went bust soon after.

That's a great first post. A conversion many old farts round here would love to own for a bit of Man FUN. Now would be the time to be looking to do some instructing in southern Spain.

Just hope you are not tempting fate with the number plate, "Alas poor Yorik, it was a cold tyre".

Enjoy.

On the conversion yep it's tidy and looks well :thumb:
Being picky I personally don't like carpet on walls but I am sure it would reflect on price  the only other thing is screw cover caps :Eeek: but that could be that the boards need to come off/out  all in all very nice job :thumb:

When I instruct in Spain, we fly down and the bikes go in a big truck.

Would cost far too much to drive down.

The Bumpstop doesn't have to be a permanent fixture in the van.
It keeps the bike upright and your straps keep the lot in place.
Look at the video on the web site and you can see the guy trying to rock the bike around in the Bumpstop, but it is not fastened down.
Just thought that you might like your bike and van to be a bit more accident proof. :thumb:

Just looked and the bike would be more upright, which will limit the space when I am sleeping in the van.

I always go to trackdays the night before and some circuits won't let us into paddock, so sleep outside with bike still in van.

That makes sense.

Instructing in Spain, you have a hard life but someone has to do it.

Maybe in Spring :roflmto:

Spring in Spain is lovely, we've done two MotoGP test days in Jerez in the spring. Perfect climate for Brits. It's a great track and a great area.

We stayed on a site in El Puerto de Santa Maria, highly recommended.

https://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=36.587302,-6.239886&spn=0.003756,0.004528&t=h&z=18

We had a look at Valencia this year, not impressed, it's just a man made road folded into the smallest space possible, no character. But we got in free to watch Moto2 practice.

I did Jerez in Spring 2011. Amazing track to ride and we stayed at posh hotel, right over the road :)
