Hi, Usually the cheapest place is at a supermarket service station.

If you use SuperU or HyperU they sell under their own label and usually charge a lot less deposit than for other brands.

Hope you have a great trip

buying gas is not a problem.....

but finding a bottle can be.

i believe to obtain a bottle you need a french address and some form of ID.

garage and boot sales can be useful.

your adaptor could be for 'camping gaz' bottles which are readily available without a contract but work out expensive.

edit: just a thought, this could be for Spain .

French gas

Just returned from France having done some homework first.
The Intermarche chain charged me €19.90 for the gas and €1.00 for the bottle !
That's right €19.90 for 10kgs (Calor 6kg=£22.35)
No address, just hand over the money. They use 21.8 left hand thread, the same as the 4.5 kg Calor butane.

I took a pigtail with me to as it was easier to go prepared!
You can even download the Intermarche store locator to your Sat-nav so when you need a replacement, look up the nearest store !

The one in Calais is the one I used at 56 AVENUE ANTOINTE de SAINT-EXU.

Good luck and Bon Voyage

The best thing we ever did was fit re-fillable Gaslow bottles. 2 x 18kg. Costs less than a tenner to fill both. And no hunting around for new bottles in differing countries.::bigsmile:

If you are going to make regular trips into Europe, or for extended stays, its the way ahead. You can re-fill almost at almost every petrol station ( Spain is trickier, I admit)

However, for irregular, short trips - stick with standard bottles.:thumb:

All we did was buy an adaptor in the UK for LE CUBE propane gas. readily available at most supermarkets with petrol stations. If memory serves me right the last one was about 17Euros. We were limited as our lockers only take 6kg bottles.

Thanks so much for all your useful comments. Will print them out and use them once I get to France. I like the idea of being able to buy them at supermarkets!

Cheers all!
