Customer with 34ft Coachman Catalina with a slide stuck out. Please can anyone tell him where the manual operation handle is or even if there is one. He is hoping to leave soon.
Know you lot are pretty helpful and said I would ask
Thanks

if its electrically operated he needs to find the fault and fix it.

if its hydraulic there should/might be a hand operated winch which hooks under the slide and onto a bracket on the opposite side.

undo the thumb/pressure release screws on the pump block and slowly wind in the winch.
if the thumb screws are not released he will NEVER get the slide to move..

gear shift in park and parking brake set on....wont work otherwise.

forgot to mention....the winch is a stand alone item and not already installed..

No but thanks for your help, they think the winch has been removed and they are staying another night while we try to locate a winch.
Thanks again John

Just trying to help, but don't know much really but googled it and found this:Smile:

http://www.lci1.com/OwnersManuals/Slideout/Above Floor Sofa Slide-Web.pdf

Single Arm System: The first thing to check is that all bolts or screws attaching the mechanism to the floor and the wall are tight. If any are loose, it's possible the room may have shifted. If so, then you'll need to reposition the mechanism so the room is back in square. The room is relatively light, so it shouldn't be much problem if you do have to shift it.

Double Arm System: Again, inspect all attachment bolts or screws for tightness. Take a look at the rear arm. It's possible the height adjustment bolts have become loose allowing the room to drop down at that end. If so, lift the room up and tighten the attachment bolts. You should be able to see the original location on the bracket at the end of the arm. If that looks ok, then you'll need to adjust the timing between the two arms so the rear arm is further in. There are timing adjustment instructions in the manual linked below.

The room should be adjusted so the top of the wall of the room touches the wall of the trailer before the bottom does. When cranking, be sure not to attempt to crank beyond the room limits.

If he has lockers under the slide out, it's possible they have microswitches to stop a closing slide crushing an open locker door (as per my G.B Landau).
Might be worth a check to see ........
a/ if they're there
b/ the lockers are properly shut
c/ the microswitches actually work

it should be possible to retract it using a heavy duty ratchet webbing strap, as in load securing strap, but it will be a slow job having to keep releasing, tightening the strap and retightening the ratchet again....and again....and again.

this kind of strap....

look very carefully on the very left hand side , where the componant says 'LOCK'.
you can just see the pressure relief valve.....small T shaped handle on the end of the solenoids.
they look like central heating radiator keys.

raise the levelling jacks before releasing the valve , as they may drop if the wrong valve is opened

those are the valves which need unscrewing a little, dont take them out, there may or may not be some fluid loss.
the slide will only come in very slowly as the fluid has to force its way past the valve.

No hand winch and wouldn't budge so tractor came to the rescue and went slowly and it worked. No harm done. Think he is on RV sister site.
They are on their way pulling their toad back to Brighton hopefully all ok and to get slide mended.
Thanks again

misunderstanding i think.
i realise the winch was missing but was pointing out it doesnt need a lot of force to get it moving.

if the winch had been used its a one handed job to turn the winch handle....any more effort and something is jammed.

job sorted now so it matters not :thumb:

any idea who it was ?
maybe know them on RVOC.
