Hi,

I'm converting my van into something a little comfier, but cannot completely get my head around electronics. Could someone who know what they are doing have a look at my proposed circuit (however rudimentary) and give me tips on type of wiring, fuses earth points etc.

Forgot to add, I will not be connecting this setup to the alternator.

There are definitely some adjustments to be made, are you wanting anything but sockets? Are you having a control panel such as a ZIG type unit?

All commercial ones do. A relay, closed by alternator D+ links leisure to starter so you charge whilst driving.

invertor should be connected direct to the battery unless its so small its only capable of charging a phone if its a large one then keep it close to battery with very thick cables use the 240 wiring to extend
240 wiring is usually radials not ring type

no connection to vehicle battery explain why not

ask your self if an invertor is realy necessary most stuff can be run from 12v with suiutable adaptors

every connection to the battery should be fused ie the invertor

forgot to add earth points can be direct to van body but for ease of future fault finding its best to run several to a convenient point i have three in my van one at the battery and one each side of the van easiest way is to bolt through some metalwork after cleaning paint away first tighten down with two nutsto lock it tight the add earths using ring connectors and another nut on top to hold them
i wouldnt bother with a zig or similar unit if you want banks of switch search e bay for marine switch panels you can even get them with circuit breakers incorperated
