Hi I am new to the site and I am looking for some help with how to hard wire my 300 watt inverter into my Renault Master Lunar 5 star.
I would like to wire it into the main engine system so the alternator can replace what the inverter takes out.
Can anyone give me some tips on how to wire it in.

Thank you John

Firstly, what do you intend running from your 300 watt inverter.

Your alternator already does that..!!
You run off your leisure battery and while driving the alternator charges the battery back up..

BUT If you use the Inverter a lot you may drain the battery and if you dont drive very far then your battery wont get charged... So back to Snowbirds question.. What will you be running off the Inverter.. ??

The main reason I asked what you would be running from a 300 watt inverter was that whatever it is, could be run from 12 volt much more efficiently than through an inverter. Laptop chargers, phone chargers, ipod chargers TVs etc, can all be run by dedicated 12 volt chargers. A 300 watt inverter would be the next best thing to useless and not worthy of the ride in my opinion.

re inverter wiring

I want to charge my netbook and my razor on the 300 watt inverter.

Can I connect the inverter to the leisure battery or is it better to wire it to the engine some how.

We have 2 sets of wires with our 300w inverter and we run our freesat box with it, decided to buy an inverter to carry on using that instead of buying a 12v freesat.
I also charge my toothbrush with it, I also use my 300w styling brush with it but I can only do all that with using the wires with the crocodile clips to connect directly to the battery, We only use the wires to connect to the 12v socket to run the freesat box, the tv runs off 12v socket.

Don't diss my 300W inverter. It runs the twin tub washing machine very well!

(Laptops, TV, satellite, Mifi, blu-ray etc. all 12V...)

connect the inverter to the engine battery at your peril.

if its used at its full potential it will draw 25amps/hour from the engine battery and could result in a none start situation.

i charge my mobile phone via a proper 12v cig lighter adaptor/charger and my MiFi dongle and Kindle fire via a 12v USB adaptor plugged in the fag lighter socket
