I took a gamble with these off ebay £145 delivered (removed from a 5 ton Frankia lowline) and at first I thought I'd cocked up but it turned out well in the end.
The grey waste was the stumbling block but with a modification to the mounting bracket it just fits. If you see any for sale grab them!
2x8mm holes to drill for each side but these are right at the end of the chassis and won't cause any weakness.

Nice job.

There were steadies already fitted to our Burstner when we bought it. There were also blocks of wood (as you have) in the locker for putting underneath but I found that they got a bit wet in use and were a bit of a pain to retrieve when we left site.

As luck would have it we had an old plastic chopping board which we no longer used so I cut it in half (making two pieces about A5 size) drilled a couple of holes in each and used some old electrical flex to make a loop handle. They work well to stop the steadies sinking in the ground, are easy to retrieve and wipe clean.

Ahh Atwoods they're like the ones I've not removed yet but they're well in front of my axle and as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike to my van :roflmto:
Make sure you don't forget to put them up before driving off!
My new ones will fold up if I forget

I place the winder over the pedals when I've put the steadies down so that it's there as a reminder.

The standard legs require a round bar that you insert and lever the legs taught
Mine uses a 17mm socket on a hex shaft driven by 18 volt LXT Makita ::bigsmile:

I wouldn't bother with them.

We have steadies on our van, I believe they come as standard on the Dakota, but haven't tried them down yet. Had a look for the tool which should've been left with the van when we bought it last year........but can't see it.

Does anybody know where I could get a spare "winder"?

Thanks in advance.

You can probably source one from a caravan supplies company but if you have the correct size socket and an extension bar that will probably work just as well.

Never used my steadies. I have thought of removing them to save weight, but never got around to it.

We've used ours once in eleven years of ownership Andy, as when tried, didn't make a blind bit of difference with out tandem axled MH. :(
The only time they get wound down and up again, is for servicing. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

No worries Jock, anyone who wants them will have made their own mind up (y) just like I did and I found they help.
