we had one snap screwing into the ground and another when one dog pulled hard on it. on another occassion my wife got chased on her mobility scooter by 2 collies dragging a corkscrew stake covered in mud
never rely on one to hold a dog if it really wants to pull. well maybe a chihuahua but that hardly counts. anything bigger will have no problem pulling or snapping it

I bought one, forgot it ( left on a campsite) I now carry a small rock and tie the dogs lead to it, good thing is, you don't have to screw the rock into hard ground, it's free and if you forget it just find another small rock.....simples

We use the RAC model. Very strong. Think they come in different sizes. Example below, but search for a cheaper price:

thats the one we have had snapped. they shear off where they are drilled to take the loop on the side.
