You know the one I mean, it screws into the ground. Seen some on ebay but they seem rather flimsy, any tips where to buy :thumb:

We got ours from a climbing shop.....

It's a carabiner that we use to attach the dogs to the van with, tethers just get pulled up and are a pain to secure in hard ground.

I bought one, forgot it ( left on a campsite) I now carry a small rock and tie the dogs lead to it, good thing is, you don't have to screw the rock into hard ground, it's free and if you forget it just find another small rock.....simples:Smile:

A rock to hold my two would take up all the payload :ROFLMAO:

Same here, we gave up on anything less than 3.5t otherwise they get dragged around:Doh:

The new ginger nutter has learned that he can't drag the camper around so he has given up and now sleeps happily underneath it.

we had one snap screwing into the ground and another when one dog pulled hard on it. on another occassion my wife got chased on her mobility scooter by 2 collies dragging a corkscrew stake covered in mud

never rely on one to hold a dog if it really wants to pull. well maybe a chihuahua but that hardly counts. anything bigger will have no problem pulling or snapping it

We use the Delta dog ties (ground anchors)

first class product and good people to deal with. Easy to use even on the hardest ground.
We use it with a 3m pvc covered wire dog-lead thingy from ebay.

The corkscrews are called tie out stakes, and logically the cables are tie out cables. I used to own a pet supplies business and have seen plenty of variations of these. IMHO you get what you pay for in terms of quality. I like the cables that are plastic sheathed airline steel. These come in various gauges to cope with different sizes of dogs, and have swivel clips at both ends so that the dog does not get trussed up like a chicken :ROFLMAO:

dog tether

go to any tenting/camping shop - most of them will have them. You need to screw it into the ground - if the ground is hard use a mallet handle/screwdriver as a lever to make sure it won't come out - our spaniel has yet to get it out of the ground.

Easiest for us is to extend the extending lead, lock it at the required length and then just drop it behind the step. Ellie can't go anywhere then but still has enough length to pop in and out of the van. ::bigsmile:

Then again, she is just a little dog. If you did it with Paul (Haganap's) dog, the van would be trailing round the site. ::bigsmile:

They do snap easier than people think a big dog with a run up will snap the head off easily.

Best thing is get an intelligent dog like mine and tell them to stay:Smile:

Our neighbours here on the campsite use a big screwdriver knocked into the ground.
Then slip the end of the lead over the screwdriver.

We use the RAC model. Very strong. Think they come in different sizes. Example below, but search for a cheaper price:

Mines slightly different, in that the metal joint between the hoop and the shaft is wrapped around the main shaft, although I can see a weak point, on the hoop. I can easily rectify this, so that all the tension is taken on the screw shaft which is strong enough to deal with our dog. Its a shame as the cable, clip joints and screw shaft are pretty good.

We got ours through pets at home. It is a hammer in, rather than twist. Rather than attach the supplied fixed line, we just hammer the whole thing through the handle hole of a retractable lead, which gets less tangled than a long rigid lead.
