Yes, but what is it?

fon is a network of shared internet access. you join by buying a fon box, which you connect to your home internet router. basically it shares a small amount of your internet connection. keeping it connected allows you to have an account that lets you access other peoples internet via their fon box.

if your a bt customer, they give you access free but many people say bt fon accounts dont work abroad. proper fon accounts do work all over europe, but you have to be near enough to a fon user to "piggyback" their connection. in theory its excellent but in practice very few fon boxes are near campsites

Hello

This should be a map of FON hotspots in Belgium

Broken Link Removed

If this link does not work type FON Belgie in google then go to

Kart van de Fon -hotspots in Belgie

That should open the map of Belgium with the hotspots shown.

Works well and you can move map all over UK and Europe, UK is blotted out with them and France seems well suported

I tried to log onto something called SFR Fon in France but my BT password etc didn't work.

Not sure if that is the same thing though.

started in a minivan 1970's when I could fit into it.
Just remembered I took a couple screenshots in france on one of the fon logons, you may well need to be close to the wifi signal or use an external high gain antenna, which is what I used.Went to belgium but never tried it there(adinkerke)
