Can anyone recommend a broker to provide personal cover for my wife and I. We are planning on traveling round Europe without return to the UK and most insurers only cover for trips of upto 30 days before having to return to the UK.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I think you will be lucky to find anyone selling such a policy on the open market but a specialist company may be able to find an underwriter to cover very specific conditions.

We never even tried and rely on the EHIC, we have no home in the UK( or anywhere else) so repatriation is not needed and any treatment would have to be whatever is available in the particular country we are in at the time. This only applies to the EU of course.

Thanks for your reply. I have managed to find some 'backpackers' insurance that will cover us however, it's going to be around £200 for a year. I've had to use the E111 before and have found it to be very unreliable depending on country so will continue to search for an alternative.......

Any other full timers have travel insurance that covers 365 days per year? Or do most people reply on the E111?

We rang them 4 years ago and they covered a 90 day trip much cheaper than any cover we could get for my husband who had had Cancer 3 years earlier. The 60 day rule may be new. Sorry.

We have used backpackers insurance too when living in UK but that was more than 10 years ago so guess prices have gone up. Usually cheaper for Europe only . We used Flexicover but not sure of the cost now.

Flexicover no longer cover European residents so now use Staysure. They were the most reasonable so might be worth checking out .

Having said that £200 seems reasonable for a year. We paid more than that for 3 month trip to Oz .

Thanks for this I will try a quote from staysure and see what they can come up with.

Just rereading my post !! Not well explained we use Staysure as live in France and Flexicover stopped covering anyone who did not live in UK . So worth trying Flexicover too as you are UK based.

Good luck
