Typical mouthy Expat...

Am parked in a Super U supermarket carpark not too far from Saumar.

I drop down the cab bed for a little lie down whilst shopping is done.

I have Portuguese plates and in the front we display a small Portuguese flag one side and a small French one on the other side...

A car pulls up ans I hear a woman say,

"Oh look at that poor old thing... a Hymer..."

Well!

I am not going to stand for that am I?

"Poor old thing?..." I shout through the open but partially curtained driver's window.

"Poor old thing?

It is classic Hymer 660... going up in value everyday and will be still going long after your over priced tin box has died... cheeky moo..."

She didn't say anything else... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Did you mean Saumur JJ?

If so pop into Montreuil-Bellay. It has a lovely free Aire and is a smashing location. One of my favourite stops on the way down...

Thanks a LOT Karl...

My Princess said to me,

"You have spelt Saumur wrong."

and I replied,

"No one will notice..."

A short time later huge roars of delighted laughter...

We did a long, long drive yesterday because I wanted to clear Rouen in the very early hours.

Thank goodness we did.

I reckon it must be a total nightmare during the day.

We just drove straight through 1am following less than huge "Deviation" signs.

What shallow, judgemental souls - hate such snobbery!

To me, it doesn't matter what you use - and with motorhomes, they DO NOT reflect your financial position. I have friends that have stupid amounts of money - but drive old Hymers, Old Mercs etc because they like them, or because they are more basic and cheaper to repair with readily available parts. They drive them all over the continent quite happily.

In fact, i remember once recovering an old VW which was hanging, and should never have had an MOT. It was full of water and silicone sealer holding it together. The drivers seat was just springs, and was darn uncomfortable. I can honestly say, I wouldn't let my dog sleep in it, it was that bad! - must have been hell getting from wilts to cornwall!

Took it back to his home, and arranged to meet the owner nearby as his place was tucked away on a side lane. The guy turned up in a new Audi convertible, and led me to a huge mansion. Turned out they were a Lord and Lady, and the VW was their 'tramping' holiday which they loved to 'holiday rough'
You just never know!:thumb:

You'll have to go on the Hilldweller Subtle Course, Roger. The whole point was mentioning Maine Road, not the Etihad, in connection with victory ::bigsmile:

If I ad thought of it:cry:
