Hi all total newbie from kent,and i am looking at a 4 berth self build for 2 adults and two children under 6.Are self build campers frowned upon at sites? im hoping to start my project september this year and hopefully complete in 9 months.

Welcome from another Kent Funster, The only issues that i am aware of re self builds, is the insurance aspect, but others on this site may reassure you.:thumb:

Welcome. Another Kent resident!
A friend of mine has just completed his self build in an LWB Peugeot panel van. Mind you he is a cabinet maker by trade. It looks very professional and he had no problems getting it insured.
There are quite a few self builders here that will be able to offer advice as you get on with the build

only once had problems regarding self build being refused entry to a site and yes you can get very reasonable insurance

The coop are good for self-build campers when I had one never looked further than them with any of my van insurance still use them yet find them good with older vans to

A lot of self builders get insured with Adrian flux, I think they can insure you during the build but there is a time limit on completion.
