As you know when you tow on an A Frame you have to leave the key in to get the steering lock off. My key is a coded key, so get a blank key cut to leave in the car, then if you forget a leased no one can start the car and drive off. thanks Bob.:thumb:

Hi

Its barmy isn't it Geo. In the past I have had all sorts of cracking, expensive cars and then suddenly a little van gets so much attention.

Maybe its something to do with having six seats, acres of leg room, two sun roofs, 50 miles to the gallon, easy to park, light to tow and the ability to convert to a van :Smile:

I'm guessing this is the Bedford Rascal, Suzuki Carry, Daihatsu Hijet? Terrific little vehicles. We used to have a Datastorm fitted on the roof of our Suzuki (curiously we thought we were original in calling it the Sooty Van).
Ours was on a Car-A-Tow and got towed 10's of thousands of miles. We used it as a van, trailer, advertising hoarding, taxi to pub from show. Been thinking about replacing it was one of the Subaru mini-vans.

Doug

Hi

I am, as Geo says getting an A frame fitted.

We had fun yesterday. The yellow ignition light came on whilst Shona was using it - I think she forgot to slow down for a speed bump. Anyway I phoned our breakdown service hoping they would just advise me but they insisted on sending someone out.

The guy, who I would not have wanted to refer to the Hijet as a sooty van to :winky: arrived and drove past her. He then came back and pointed to the RV and said is that the Hijet :ROFLMAO:. Now I know we only have a small RV but come on.

He must have been in total awe of the RV because he had not even noticed the Hijet next to it.

I showed him the warning light and he said it meant it needed a service. Could be I said, moving now into my renowned sarchastic mode, "Whats the service intervals" I asked. Not sure he said, when did you last have a service done - three weeks ago I said. Of course I could have diven thousands of miles in that time but he decided to move onto the next possibility.

Can you open the bonnet he said as he walked to and waited at the front of the van. At this point, as I lifted the seats to reveal the engine I wondered if he had seen a Hijet before :winky::winky:

Mmm he said after touching up the engine. Did you have the injectors serviced!! I decided it was time to call it a day and ask Shona to take easy going over the speed bumps, which of course to a hijet is a mountain :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Hi PD

YouTube - sooty van burnout 2

The above will show all. Its an owner of a sooty van demonstrating what happens if you fit an A frame and then forget to take off the handbrake when towing :ROFLMAO:

I'm seriously tempted by one of these Link Removed.
Turbo, 4wd, 5 doors, 50mpg. What's not to like?
Hmm, wonder if I can tow a 4wd on an a-frame?

Yes you could.
But you'd get through a few tyres and gearboxes:Doh:
thought about putting it in a belly locker

:ROFLMAO: It'll take up less space than a spare tyre:ROFLMAO:
I've just found a company that does a dog clutch kit for the rear propshaft on a Suzuki. Gonna drop them a line to see if it could fit the Subaru.
