started when I was 11 with my parents-forgot to stop!been real one since 1980!
I hope this is in the right place and someone can help, I have a 2010 Hymer on a Transit, the front/rear fader on the radio has never worked. This is embarrassing when on site as the sound booms outs through the front speakers:Doh:,my wife is concerned about disturbing other people on site at night. I have been informed that the set need programming for this facility to work. Before I start digging round for serial numbers etc. is this correct and how do I do it,btw it is not a DAB radio just a CD/radio combo.

maybe stating the obvious but does it have rear speakers, and if so are they connected ?

You shouldn't need to program anything, just use the fader control

Pull the radio head, then the 4way speaker plug.
It should be labelled which wires feed which speakers.
Connect a meter, set to ohms or continuity, to the rear wires.
If they are connected you should get a continuity reading...If not then the meter won't change.

It can happen. Our rear speakers weren't connected up when we got our current MH :thumb:

My speakers are connected at the back and are on when the front ones are on, They cannot be faded leaving the front on and vice versa.
Someone told me that they would have to be programmed by the Ford dealer using ids, whatever that is.

Ours hasn't a fade function either. It is in the menu but doesn't function.
Perhaps Ford deemed it not neccessary in a chassis-cab?

far to complicated and totally unnecessary for a simple function like a radio fader.

From what I see IDS is Ford's own Intergrated Diagnostic System...same as OBD II

Hymer F/R fader control in their (de)instructions and have informed me that it does need programming, but not how. I did think that there is a difference between the radios in vans and in cars, our Ford cars DO have front and rear fading. Incidentally,my last Hymer had fading and it was pre-computer controlled electrickery.
Local Ford dealer can't take the van-too big and I think they use an independent installer. Do any of you know if it could be reprogrammed by such a person?
Otherwise I may have to go to the expense of buying another radio.

There are double-DIN adapters available for Transits and there are some nice double-DIN radios out there too. Many incorporate an LCD screen and AV inputs for cameras and the like. It could provide a neater solution for a reversimg camera too!

Thanks for that but I already have a reversing camera. I will look up some alternative head units though.
