We will be spending a week up north for part of our summer trip, Northumberland, we would like to visit Lindisfarne/Holy island while there.

where is the best place to park and walk over?

You can park on the island. Car park on your left as you leave the causeway. If you want to walk there is a car park on the mainland side of the causeway also. Just remember to check the tides as you cannot camp on the island.

We are researching that area just now for our trip in mid August.We will look at your replies with interest.You can see our post under "East Lothian and Northumberland "

Car park on left just before causeway, you can then walk over following the poles on right of causeway (Pilgrims Way). or park in main carpark near village.
No over night parking/camping on Island, but cl near rail crossing or several round Berwick area. Go on line and CHECK TIDES for safe crossing times, DON'T take risks - regular pictures in local press of half submerged 4x4s who thought they knew beter.

Angus, going end July/August for a week, we will be based at Bellingham with day trips around. If you have any other ideas let me know, only restriction is our girls (slowing down and hairy)

No over night parking/camping on Island

What if you get cut off by the tide at night? Can you not get a bit of kip in the MH ?

They do not permit overnight camping for caravans or motorhomes, not sure how they enforce it. :Sad:
